This door is always open
No one has the guts to shut us out
But if we have to go now
I guess there’s always hope that
Some place will be serving after hours
This night is winding down but
Time means nothing
As always at this hour
Time means nothing
One final round
Because time means nothing
Say that you’ll stay
We’re finally drunk enough that
We’re finally soaking up
The hours that everyone else throws away
And if we have to go now
I guess there’s always hope
Tomorrow night will be more of the same
This night is winding down but
Time means nothing
As always at this hour
Time means nothing
One final final round
Because time means nothing
Say that you’ll stay
We’re all right where we’re supposed to be
Say that you'll stay

Annie, Let's Not Wait - Guillemots
Annie, let's not wait
Let's cross the river now
We could sit for years
Staring at our fears
But our dreams are all we really need to grow
Let's cross the river now
We could sit for years
Staring at our fears
But our dreams are all we really need to grow
June On The West Coast - Bright Eyes
And I went to San Diego, the birthplace of the summer
And watched the ocean dance under the moon
And there was a girl I knew there, one more potential lover
I guess that something's got to happen soon
Because I know I can't keep living in this dead or dying dream
And as I walked along the beach and drank with her
I thought about my true love, the one I really need
With eyes that burn so bright, they make me pure.

Bowl of Oranges - Bright Eyes
The rain, it started tapping
On the window near my bed
There was a loophole in my dreaming
So I got out of it
And to my surprise my eyes were wide
And already open
Just my nightstand and my dresser
Where those nightmares had just been
So I dressed myself and left then
Out into the gray streets
But everything seemed different
And completely new to me
The sky, the trees, houses, buildings
Even my own body
And each person I encountered
I couldn't wait to meet
I came upon a doctor
Who appeared in quite poor health
I said "There is nothing I can do for you
That you can't do for yourself"
He said "Oh yes you can
Just hold my hand
I think that would help"
So I sat with him a while
And then I asked him how he felt
He said, "I think I'm cured
No, in fact, I'm sure
Thank you, Stranger
For your therapeutic smile"
So that is how I learned the lesson
That everyone is alone
And your eyes must do some raining
If you are ever going to grow
But when crying don't help
And you can't compose yourself
It is best to compose a poem
An honest verse of longing
Or simple song of hope
That is why I'm singing
Baby don't worry
Because now I got your back
And every time you feel like crying
I'm gonna try and make you laugh
And if I can't
If it just hurts too bad
Then we will wait for it to pass
And I will keep you company
Through those days so long and black
And we'll keep working on the problem
We know we'll never solve
Of Love's uneven remainders
Our lives are fractions of a whole
But if the world could remain within a frame
Like a painting on a wall
Then I think we would see the beauty
Then we would stand staring in awe
At our still lives posed
Like a bowl of oranges
Like a story told
By the fault lines and the soil
On the window near my bed
There was a loophole in my dreaming
So I got out of it
And to my surprise my eyes were wide
And already open
Just my nightstand and my dresser
Where those nightmares had just been

A Diamond and a Tether - Death Cab For Cutie
Pity, take pity on me
Because I'm not half the man that I should be
Always turning to run from the people I should not be afraid of
And darling
You should know
That I have fantasies about being alone
It's like love is a lesson that I can't learn
So I make the same mistakes at each familiar turn
And I know you can't hold out forever
Waiting on a diamond and a tether
From a boy who won't swim
But will dip his toe in
Just to keep you here with him
I've got this habit I abhor
When we go out I'm always watching the door
As if there's someone I'm going to see who could outdo the things that you do to me
And I know you can't hold out forever
Waiting on a diamond and a tether
From a boy who won't fly
But who will take to the skies
If he thinks that you're about to say goodbye
Pity, take pity on me
Because I'm not half the man that I should be
And I don't blame you if you've had enough of all these empty promises and countless bluffs
And I know you can't hold out forever
Waiting on a diamond and a tether
From a boy who won't jump when he falls in love
He just stands with his toes on the edge
And he waits for it to disappear again
Because I'm not half the man that I should be
Always turning to run from the people I should not be afraid of
And darling
You should know
That I have fantasies about being alone
It's like love is a lesson that I can't learn
So I make the same mistakes at each familiar turn

On the Bright Side - Never Shout Never
I met a man of two feet tall
This man was quite ambitious
In a world that is so vicious
To us all
I said "Hi"
As he replied, he said
"Listen to these words that I have lived by my whole life
You're only as tall as your heart will let you be
And you're only as small as the world will make you seem
And when the going gets rough
And you feel like you may fall
Just look on the bright side
You're roughly six feet tall"
I met a man of twelve feet tall
He towered like a giant
In a world that was defiant
Of his height
I said "Hi"
As he replied, he said
"Listen to these words that I have dreaded my whole life
You're only as tall as your heart will let you be
And you're only as small
As the world will make you seem
And when the going gets rough
And you feel like you may fall
Just look on the bright side
You're roughly six feet tall"
I am a man of six feet tall
Just looking for some answers
In a world that answers
None of them at all
I'll say "Hi"
But not reply to the letters that you write
Because I found some peace of mind
Because I'm only as tall
As my heart will let me be
And I'm only as small
As the world will make me seem
When the going gets rough
And I feel like I may fall
I'll look on the brightside

Lovelife - Atmosphere
Individually wrapped
Placed in neat little rows
Becoming A piece of everything that grows
Some numbers, a name, to indicate you played the game
Came empty handed and left the same
A soul is A soul and A shell is A shell
The border in between is full of everything you felt
Some cling to a cross because they're tired and lost
They leave it up to the weather to measure the cost
And everytime I look within I recognize the darkness
Familiar to the image of the artist
Staring at the bathroom mirror in a strangers apartment
Can't remember her name, don't remember how I got here
But here I am
Thinking about death again
Humbles out the stress, helps the breath get in
I need to check my friends
As well as my next of kin
To let them know I love them all to the end
And when the soul begins to reap
I think she'll know me from the sleep
I keep caught in the corner of my bloodshot eyes
And if she has the nerve to let me dump a couple last words
I'm gonna turn to the earth and scream "Love your life"
Love your life
Quite cliche but I guess thats me
A ball of pop culture with some arms and feet
As discrete as I've tried to keep the drama and cancer
It's no secret I hunger for someone to feed the answers
I never expected a bowl of cherries
I'm just a Virgo trying to find my own version of the Virgin Mary
And when I let them carry me to a cemetary
I want to be buried with a pocket full of clarity
Now, how many times must you prove you're an angel?
How many more demons do you have to strangle?
How much longer must you remain in this dream
Before I finally figure out if you're insane or a genius?
Let no tears to fall from none of y'all
Just remember it all, the beauty as well as the flaws
L-O-V-E-L-I-F-E
Here lies Sean, finally free
And as I look across the sea, I smile at the sun
While it feeds the weeds the nutrition they need
The people still breathe, the city still bleeds
I'm going to love it to death and keep planting my seeds
I'm going to love it to death and keep an eye on the seeds
I'll be in love until im dead
I keep reaching the seeds
I'll give all I got left just to teach you to read
Love life to the death and keep planting my seeds
And when the soul begins to reap
I think she'll know me from the sleep
I keep caught in the corner of my bloodshot eyes

What Sarah Said - Death Cab
And it came to me then
That every plan is a tiny prayer to father time
As I stared at my shoes in the ICU
That reeked of piss and 409
And I rationed my breaths as I said to myself
That I'd already taken too much today
As each descending peak on the LCD
Took you a little farther away from me
Away from me
Amongst the vending machines and year-old magazines
In a place where we only say goodbye
It stung like a violent wind
That our memories depend on a faulty camera in our minds
But I knew that you were a truth I would rather lose
Than to have never lain beside at all
And I looked around at all the eyes on the ground
As the TV entertained itself
'Cause there's no comfort in the waiting room
Just nervous pacers bracing for bad news
And then the nurse comes round and everyone will lift their heads
But I'm thinking of what Sarah said
That "Love is watching someone die"
So who's going to watch you die?
That every plan is a tiny prayer to father time
As I stared at my shoes in the ICU
That reeked of piss and 409
And I rationed my breaths as I said to myself
That I'd already taken too much today
As each descending peak on the LCD
Took you a little farther away from me

'Cause there's no comfort in the waiting room
Just nervous pacers bracing for bad news
And then the nurse comes round and everyone will lift their heads
But I'm thinking of what Sarah said
That "Love is watching someone die"
So who's going to watch you die?

Along The Way - Devotchka
The gringos block the roads inside your head
Are you sleeping it off when you're not in your bed?
You pray in the darkness
Let me walk in your light
Let me die in my lover's arms
Let me love through this night
You are watching over my three brave soldiers
I have not forgotten
I will send youSomething
So this is the city?
So this is progress?
How can something so prettybecome such a mess?
There is no more than this steal and stone
More than this flesh and bone
There is a little piece of land in me
No other man can own
Who is watching my three brave soldiers?
I have not forgotten
I will send you Something
Well shut my mouth, I have nothing to say
Except, what is this life with no love along the way?
You know that I'm good for it
You know I can pay
We don't have to look for it
It is right here
It's today
Are you sleeping it off when you're not in your bed?
You pray in the darkness
Let me walk in your light
Let me die in my lover's arms
Let me love through this night
You are watching over my three brave soldiers
I have not forgotten
I will send youSomething
So this is the city?

Jack The Lion - Harvey Danger
Rake up all the leaves in pleasant valley
It's the last day of my visit - upstate New York
To pay respects to the old man
He's still got his sense of humor
But his body fails him
He's surrounded by loved ones
But that only goes so far
And does he know where he is?
I doubt it
Jack the lion roaring his last
Like a vision sent from the past
Bedside, crying, holding his hands
Strong hands
Finally get a moment alone with the old man
He's having trouble breathing
And he's not the only one
He wonders where time goes
And why we haven't spoken for so long
He regrets it
He forgets it
And none too soon
Because hes closing his eyes and fading
We thank you for uniting
We thank you for the cause
We thank you for the lion
We thank you for the claws
Come see him again
Come see him again
Come see him again
Come see him again
Jack the lion roaring his last
Like a vision sent from the past
Bedside, crying, holding his hands
Strong hands
It's the last day of my visit - upstate New York

Geraldine - Glasvegas
When your sparkle evades your soul
I'll be at your side to console
When you're standing on the window ledge
I'll talk you back from the edge
I will turn your tide
Be your shepard and your guide
When you're lost in the deep and darkest place around
May my words walk you home safe and sound
When you say that I'm no good and you feel like walking
I need to make sure you know that's just the prescription talking
When your feet decide to walk you on the wayward side
Up upon the stairs and down the downward slide
I will turn your tide
Do all that I can to heal you inside
I'll be the angel on your shoulder
My name is geraldine
I'm your social worker
I see you need me
I know you do
I'll be at your side to console
When you're standing on the window ledge
I'll talk you back from the edge
I will turn your tide
Be your shepard and your guide
When you're lost in the deep and darkest place around
May my words walk you home safe and sound
When you say that I'm no good and you feel like walking

Trains To Brazil - Guillemots
Its one o'clock on a Friday morning
I'm trying to keep my back from the wall
The prophets and their bombs have had another success
And I'm wondering why we bother at all
And I think of you on cold winter mornings
Darling, they remind me of when we were at school
Nothing really mattered when you called out my name
In fact, nothing really mattered at all
And I think about how long it will take them to blow us away
But I won't get me down
I'm just thankful to be facing the day
Because days don't get you far when you're gone
It's five o'clock on a Friday morning
One hundred telephones sit and ring
And one of them is from someone who knew you
And I still think of you on cold winter mornings
Darling, they'll still remind me of when we were at school
When they could never have persuaded me
That lives like yours were in the hands of these erroneous fools
And to those of you who moan your lives through one day to the next
Well let them take you next
Can't you live and be thankful you're here?
See it could be you tomorrow, next year
I'm trying to keep my back from the wall
The prophets and their bombs have had another success
And I'm wondering why we bother at all
And I think of you on cold winter mornings
Darling, they remind me of when we were at school
Nothing really mattered when you called out my name

Chicago - Sufjan Stevens
I fell in love again
All things go, all things go
Drove to Chicago
All things know, all things know
We sold our clothes to the state
I don't mind, I don't mind
I made a lot of mistakes
In my mind, in my mind
You came to take us
All things go, all things go
To recreate us
All things grow, all things grow
We had our mindset
All things know, all things know
You had to find it
All things go, all things go
I drove to New York
In the van, with my friend
We slept in parking lots
I don't mind, I don't mind
I was in love with the place
In my mind, in my mind
I made a lot of mistakes
In my mind, in my mind
You came to take us
All things go, all things go
To recreate us
All things grow, all things grow
We had our mindset
All things know, all things know
You had to find it
All things go, all things go
If I was crying
In the van, with my friend
It was for freedom
From myself and from the land
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes
You came to take us
All things go, all things go
To recreate us
All things grow, all things grow
We had our mindset

Ode To Sunshine - Delta Spirit
When your working is done
And you have nothing left to lose
Why don't you just roll away that stone that's locked you up?
When your pattern is full
And it feels like there's no place to land
When will you all run out of gas?
Yeah, it happened so fast
Leaving town for sell to pal
I recall only nights
That we built with our hands and feet
Making peace with the voice in our head
That ghost just stop - Won't lie dead
It just bleeds
Let the prophet rebound
Let his riddle rub on to my pride
I'm just too hollow inside
Let it echo in time
Just to get it through my head and mouth
Through the gorgeous light of the sun
And which I could never outrun
Even if my perdition were just in front
The sun's got my shine
The sun's got my pride
I could run
But I'd never live without your light
And you have nothing left to lose
Why don't you just roll away that stone that's locked you up?
When your pattern is full
And it feels like there's no place to land
When will you all run out of gas?
Yeah, it happened so fast
Leaving town for sell to pal
I recall only nights
That we built with our hands and feet
Making peace with the voice in our head
That ghost just stop - Won't lie dead
It just bleeds
Let the prophet rebound
Let his riddle rub on to my pride
I'm just too hollow inside
Let it echo in time
Just to get it through my head and mouth
Through the gorgeous light of the sun
And which I could never outrun
Even if my perdition were just in front
The sun's got my shine
The sun's got my pride
I could run
But I'd never live without your light
and here it is
i always pay really close attention to song lyrics. i used to write them down whenever i found them stimulating. now i will blog them. this is my second lyrics blog - sometimes we all just really need a fresh start.
